Rashid Al Khalifa Mobile Column VII 2025 copyright Rashid Al Khalifa

In relation to the canvas and the space, the canvas itself, and the place that houses it, the work is a world unto itself that diffuses a new reality once exhibited. How can we make the connection between the internal composition of the work and the surrounding architecture?
The artist plays with the field, the off-field, the borders, and margins of the chosen formats, but the exhibition space frees up an opening that allows the viewer to compose their own mental score, which can swing between emptiness, narrative, suspended time, or the rhythm it evokes.
How do we move from a technical exercise, detach ourselves from academic codes to move towards the evanescent, the uncertain, the imaginary? In short, the poetry of letting go, the assumed freedom of interpretation left to the viewer of the work, who searches within themselves and thus pushes back the limits of the visible in an intimacy that can remain a secret and silent dialogue between the canvas and the person who, for the duration of a glance, appropriates it by weaving the threads of their own story.

WORKS BY : Rashid AL KHALIFA, Olivia COGNET, Kahina LOUMI, Soo KYOUNG LEE, Guillaume MOSCHINI

RASHID AL KHALIFA >Rashid Al Khalifa's latest works continues to explore the myriad dynamics of light and color that characterize Bahrain's geographical and cultural diversity. He is currently interested in the interaction of these properties to support his bold interpretations of his cultural heritage.

OLIVIA COGNET >Raised in Nice on the French Riviera, trained at Villa Arson, and inspired by the genius of the great masters of the Vallauris school, from Picasso to Roger Capron, Olivia Cognet makes ceramics a key element of architecture. She first gives birth to her ideas on paper, through drawing, before taking up stoneware, a local clay that she uses in three natural shades.

SOO KYOUNG LEE > Soo Kyoung Lee creates abstract, colorful shapes on monochrome backgrounds without any preparatory sketches. It is the action of the brush, the spontaneous gesture, and the colors that are revealed to the viewer. All of Soo Kyoung Lee's work is the result of a constant exchange between the body and the canvas.

KAHINA LOUMI > Created during her residency in Beausoleil in 2024, the works in the series "Blue, Orange, Lemon. Her unique works feature vast swathes of color, blending infinite landscapes, natural elements, and vibrant hues.

Guillaume MOSCHINI > Guillaume Moschini's palette is vivid and contrasting harmonious shades of yellow and green, orange and blue... but also more muted tones, from beige to gray. The shapes are extremely simple: two unbalanced rectangles with large spaces created by the white or ecru tones of the blank canvas.
